Some persons ask if a Christian can be possessed with demons. The answer is “NO”. A true Christian cannot be possessed with demons because he/she is born again. When we accept Jesus Christ, repent of our sins, get baptised and become born again the Holy Spirit fills bodies and spirits as born again Christians. A Christian cannot be possessed by demons because the Holy Spirit lives in them. If anyone in the Church that is possessed should go for deliverance in the name of Jesus.
The Bible makes it very clear: “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Romans 8:9) and also that those who are “led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). Hear it clearly that those who are possessed with demons are not children of God (as it is written in the Romans 8:9 above.)
Scripture makes it clear that believers are in-dwelt by God: the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (John 14:17, 23). It is impossible for Christians to be demonised because they are the temple of God Almighty.
Take a look at the following bible verses:
“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).
“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” (Ephesians 5:18)
“But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” (1 John 2:27).
“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Romans 8:9).
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (Romans 8:15).
“That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.” (2 Timothy 1:14).
“And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch” (Acts 6:5)
“And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:27)
In conclusion, Jesus Christ has given us the power to cast out demons from those who are possessed (Matthew 10:1). If anyone thinks that he/she is a Christian yet allow demons to live inside of them, they should repent because Christians are to cast out demons and not to house them.
